Work

Another way women are discriminated against is in the workplace. The "Working For Wages" map illustrates the wage gap experienced between men and women in the workplace. Even though more women are entering the workforce, they are still entering into only a small range of jobs. Also there is the issue of what is called work. There is formal work, which has a steady paycheck or salary, and informal, which might be under-the-table or even household chores such as laundry and upkeep of the yard. (Donovan,2013) We see this example in the Atlas under "Unpaid Work." According to the Atlas, one way a woman can manage having a family and work is by working part-time. The feminization of part-time work is increasing. (Atlas of Women in the World)
